Firefighters and lifeguards helped recover the body.

SAN DIEGO, CA — Firefighters and lifeguards helped recover a body floating in the water in San Diego not far from the U.S.-Mexico border, authorities said.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection asked the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department for help recovering the body at about 1:20 a.m. Tuesday near Dairy Mart Road and Camino de la Plaza in the San Ysidro area of San Diego, according to the department.

Engine 29 responded from the South Bay as well as pre-positioned lifeguard teams, spokesperson Mónica Muñoz said. The crews were able to recover the body and bring it to the boat launch area.
