Body Found In Point Loma Heights Investigated As Homicide

SAN DIEGO, CA — A homicide investigation was underway Thursday after a man was found unresponsive early Thursday in a Point Loma Heights roadway, authorities said.

Officers and San Diego Fire-Rescue personnel responded at 1:50 a.m. to a report of a person down in the 4400 block of Nimitz Boulevard, according to the San Diego Police Department.

First responders found an unresponsive man in the roadway and performed lifesaving measures before he was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Hospital personnel discovered traumatic injuries to the man's upper body, leading police to investigate the death as a homicide.

The victim has not been identified. Police described him as a white man believed to be between 50 and 60 years old.

Investigators were working with the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office to confirm his identity and determine the cause and manner of death.
