Brush Fire Erupts On Outskirts Of MCAS Miramar
No structural damage or injuries were reported.
SAN DIEGO, CA — Ground and airborne crews were able to quickly gain the upper hand Thursday on a fire that charred about three open acres in the eastern reaches of Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.
The blaze erupted for unknown reasons shortly before 10 a.m. east of Interstate 15 and north of state Route 52, near the one-time grounds of the former Camp Elliott military base, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
Firefighters, including personnel aboard a water-dropping helicopter, had the flames under control as of 11:15 a.m., the city agency reported.
