CA Teacher 'Goes Off' About Parent Demands For In-Person Learning
A San Marcos High School teacher was caught yelling at her students on Zoom, venting about parents' complaints on distance learning.

SAN MARCOS, CA — A California high school teacher was captured yelling at her students erratically on Zoom and chastising parents for their complaints about distance learning.
Footage of Alissa Piro, an English teacher at San Marcos High School circulated on social media on Sunday. The video was first posted on Facebook and later tweeted by Reopen California Schools.
"If your parent wants to come talk to me about how I'm not doing a good enough job in distance learning based on what you need as an individual, just dare them to come at me," Piro said in the video.

The video surfaced as more schools across the Golden State are reopening. The San Marcos School District transitioned to a hybrid model last month, meant to last until the end of the school year. The plan has students on campus two days a week.
"I'm so sick to my stomach of parents trying to tell educators how to do their job," Piro continued. "I have never once gone to a doctor's appointment and tried to tell my medical health provider how to treat me. You know why? Because I no nothing about that. I didn't get my degree in medicine.

Then she paused and said, "I am going off. I'm sorry. This is my go-off period."
The video on Twitter had already racked up 77,000 views as of Monday afternoon.
A lawsuit filed against Gov. Gavin Newsom in late February by parents from five North County districts — including San Marcos Unified — argued that the state's stringent reopening rules were unfairly preventing campuses from reopening for in-person learning.
More recently, another lawsuit aims to expand in-person instruction at middle and high schools, The Coast News reported.
