Coast Guard Searches For Missing Kayaker Near San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA — The Coast Guard is searching for a 27-year-old woman who was reported missing Tuesday morning near Torrey Pines Gliderport in La Jolla.

Samantha Youngs was reported missing along with her kayak around 6 a.m., according to the Coast Guard. Her family reported her disappearance. Her car was found in the cliffside parking lot at Torrey Pines Gliderport.

Coast Guard boats and aircraft are searching waters near Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve and La Jolla Shores, with assistance from San Diego lifeguards and police.

Anyone with information about Youngs' whereabouts was asked to call the Coast Guard's Joint Harbor Operations Center at 619-278-7057.
