Dog Still Waiting For Forever Home After 638 Days At SD Humane Society
Help make Luna Mae's day on National Make A Dog's Day. Adoption fees for all adult dogs are waived through Sunday at the Humane Society.

SAN DIEGO, CA — After more than 600 days in the shelter, the team at the San Diego Humane Society hopes Luna Mae will find her forever family for National Make A Dog's Day on Sunday. Sunday marks the pup's 641st day in the shelter.
The German shepherd-mix was only 8 months old when she arrived at San Diego Humane Society. She is now 2.5 years old.
Because of her shyness, Luna Mae was enrolled at the organization's Behavior Center, which provides specialized intervention for animals displaying fear, anxiety and stress. Animal caregivers and trainers worked with Luna Mae to build trust and a foundation of skills to help her succeed in her future home.

"She's turned into a favorite among our team, and now we just need to find someone who will give her the patience to fall in love with her as much as we do," said Emily Beltran, an animal trainer with the San Diego Humane Society.
"Luna Mae has such a special way with other dogs — she's able to pick up on their subtle cues and requests for space beautifully," Beltran added. "This skill has led her to become an ambassador for many of our shy dogs who need another four-legged friend to help boost their courage around people. She's almost like another member of the team at the Behavior Center."
