Driver Badly Hurt In Chula Vista Crash

CHULA VISTA, CA — A woman was badly injured Wednesday when the car she was driving veered off a Chula Vista street and crashed into a utility box.

Patrol personnel responding to a report of a traffic accident in the 300 block of H Street found the driver unconscious in her vehicle shortly before 2:30 p.m., according to police.

The officers broke a window on the car to get to the victim, who was described as elderly, and began lifesaving measures, Sgt. Anthony Molina said. Paramedics then arrived and took her to a hospital for treatment of severe injuries.

The cause of the crash was under investigation, Molina said.
