SAN DIEGO, CA — A DUI and driver's license checkpoint is scheduled Saturday night in San Diego.

The checkpoint will take place between 10 p.m. Saturday and 3 a.m. Sunday at an undisclosed location in the city, according to the San Diego Police Department.

"Checkpoint locations are chosen based on a history of DUI crashes and arrests," the department said in a news release. "The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests, but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired."
