Earthquake Near Julian Shakes San Diego County

The quake was reported at 2:35 p.m. Monday. Did you feel it?

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.6 struck Monday afternoon near Julian in San Diego County.

The quake was reported at 2:35 p.m. about 14 miles east of Julian, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake had a depth of 7 miles.

A 2.6-preliminary magnitude quake was reported about three minutes later in the same location, according to the USGS.

The initial earthquake was felt as far north as Murrieta and Temecula in Riverside County and as far south as the city of San Diego. Residents across the county reported feeling the quake, including in Alpine, Borrego Springs, Carlsbad, El Cajon, Escondido, Julian, Lakeside, La Mesa, Poway, Ramona, San Marcos, Santee and Vista, according to the USGS.

No damage or injuries were immediately reported.
