Earthquake Near Palomar Observatory Rattles RivCo, San Diego County
The quake was reported at 6:32 a.m. Friday. Did you feel it?
SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.5 rattled parts of Riverside and San Diego counties Friday morning.
The quake was reported at 6:32 a.m. less than two miles from Palomar Observatory, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The observatory is located on Palomar Mountain northeast of Escondido.
The quake had a depth of nearly 5 miles, according to the USGS.

Residents across the county reported feeling the quake, including in Bonsall, Carlsbad, Escondido, Oceanside, Poway, San Marcos, Valley Center and Vista, according to the USGS. Residents in Riverside County also reported feeling the quake, including in Murrieta, Temecula, Hemet, Palm Desert and Palm Springs.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
