San Diego County Earthquake Shakes Southern California

The quake was felt in San Diego, Orange and Riverside counties. Did you feel it?

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA – An earthquake in San Diego County caused shaking across Southern California early Thursday morning.

The 3.9 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 5:48 a.m. about 12 miles southeast of Ocotillo Wells, an unincorporated community in San Diego County located a few miles west of the Imperial County line, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. It was initially reported as a 4.1 magnitude quake.

Residents across the county reported feeling the quake, including in Alpine, El Cajon, Escondido, Julian, La Mesa, Ramona, San Diego and Santee, according to USGS. The quake was felt as far away as Orange and Riverside counties.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
