Escaped Prisoner From Reentry Program Captured In San Diego County
Police arrested Quintin G. Wilkerson, 53, following a brief foot pursuit in Escondido, officials said.

SAN DIEGO, CA — An incarcerated man who walked away from a community reentry program earlier this month in San Diego was captured over the weekend, authorities announced Monday.
Escondido police arrested Quintin G. Wilkerson, 53, following a brief foot pursuit at about 7:50 p.m. Sunday in Escondido, according to California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
"Special agents from CDCR's Office of Correctional Safety then transported Wilkerson to the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility," officials said in a news release. "His case will be referred to the San Diego County District Attorney for possible escape charges."

Wilkerson was reported missing March 15 after an alert was received regarding the removal of an ankle monitor, according to CDCR. Staff initiated an emergency count that confirmed Wilkerson was missing and then launched a search. He remained at large until Sunday.
Wilkerson was sentenced to six years for "corporal injury on specific persons resulting in traumatic condition with an enhancement for inflicting great bodily injury involving domestic violence," according to CDRC.

He had been housed at the San Diego male community reentry program facility since Jan. 23. The program allows eligible inmates with two years or less remaining of their prison sentence to serve the rest of their sentence in the community.
