Flood Advisory Issued For Northwestern San Diego County

The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory Monday for northwestern San Diego County. The flood advisory is until 4 p.m.

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA – The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory Monday for northwestern San Diego County.

The flood advisory is until 4 p.m. for the cities and communities of Oceanside, Carlsbad, Vista, Encinitas, Poway, Ramona, Del Mar, Fallbrook, University City, Valley Center, La Jolla, eastern Camp Pendleton, Escondido, San Marcos and Mira Mesa.

Shortly after 1 p.m., doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to showers and thunderstorms. The storm, weather officials said, will likely cause minor flooding in the advisory area through Monday afternoon.

Pedestrians and drivers are advised to stay clear of floodwater.

On social media, the Federal Emergency Management Agency warned Americans that 6 inches of moving water can knock a person down. Additionally, 2 feet of moving water can sweep a vehicle away.
