Foggy Roads Greet Morning Commuters Across San Diego Region

Breaking: Forecasters said the fog may return Thursday night as the marine layer deepens.

SAN DIEGO, CA — Dense fog that was expected to develop along the San Diego County coast and in the valleys, impeding visibility during Thursday morning's commute, was expected to clear by about 9 a.m.

Visibility was expected to drop to a quarter-mile or less at times in coastal mesa areas Wednesday morning and again late Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service. Motorists on Interstate 5, 8 and 15, and on state Route 52, 56 and 78 may be affected.

"A persistent upper level trough along the West Coast will bring a cooling trend for the remainder of the week, and increase the depth of the marine layer," according to the weather service.
