Help Set Guinness World Record At Super 'Shred' Event: San Diego
Going for title of "most paper shredded in eight hours," you can be part of history, while also disposing of documents for free with SDCCU.
SAN DIEGO, CA – San Diego County Credit Union aims to set a new Guinness World Record at an upcoming "SDCCU Super Shred Event," free to the public and planned for Saturday, June 15 at SDCCU Stadium at 9449 Friars Road in San Diego.
Planning to shred "the most paper shredded in eight hours," SDCCU invited the public to bring an unlimited amount of documents to be shredded – free of charge – from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the northeast parking lot.
The financial institution is out to break its previous fifth Guinness World Records title of the most paper collected in 24 hours and first record for most paper shredded in eight hours set previously as SDCCU organized the effort to collect and shred over 898,931 pounds of paper.

“SDCCU encourages the entire community to fill their vehicles with personal documents that need to be shredded and come to the SDCCU Super Shred Event at SDCCU Stadium on June 15,” SDCCU President and CEO Teresa Campbell said. “We are pleased to be able to provide the community an opportunity to protect themselves by providing a free and convenient way to properly dispose of confidential data—and we hope to once again put San Diego on the map with another Guinness World Records title.”
On June 15, Shred-It, a document-destruction and recycling company, will be onsite to shred documents at no charge. Paper documents should be removed from binders, but staples and paper clips are okay to be shredded, organizers said.
