Homegrown 'City Tacos' Expands With 1st LA Locale
The San Diego-based chain, with a diehard following, is opening its first restaurant in Los Angeles at USC.
SAN DIEGO, CA — City Tacos, a San Diego-born chain that keeps customers coming back for more with its flair-filled, meat, seafood and vegan taco offerings, is opening it first Los Angeles location next week at USC Village at the University of Southern California.
Founded in 2014 in San Diego's North Park neighborhood by owner Gerry Torres, City Tacos now operates restaurants in La Mesa, Imperial Beach, Encinitas, Sorrento Valley, Pacific Beach and downtown San Diego, along with the North Park site.
To celebrate the Monday, Aug. 2 grand opening at USC, the restaurant will give away one free taco per guest, no purchase necessary, from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the site at 835 W. Jefferson Blvd., Suite 1735.

The eatery caters to all palates — including meat and seafood lovers, vegetarian, vegan and Paleo. Among menu best-sellers: the Pescado taco (with fried mahi-mahi, pickled red onions, habanero, strawberries and chipotle aioli on a flour tortilla); and the Pollo City (grilled chicken topped with arugula, diced tomatoes, golden raisins, almonds and tamarindo aioli).
