Inmate Who Died In Vista Jail Succumbed To Drug Overdose: Autopsy
Ryan Thuresson, 33, was found alone and unconscious in his cell on the morning of Feb. 1, according to the sheriff's department.
SAN DIEGO, CA — An inmate who was stricken by a medical emergency last winter while in county jail in Vista and died in a hospital five days later succumbed to a drug overdose, authorities reported Tuesday.
Ryan Thuresson, 33, was found alone and unconscious in his cell on the morning of Feb. 1, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
Jail staffers performed CPR on Thuresson and administered the anti- overdose medication naloxone prior to the arrival of paramedics, who took over the lifesaving measures and took him to a trauma center.

Thuresson was pronounced dead at a hospital on Feb. 6, sheriff's Lt. Joseph Jarjura said.
An autopsy has determined that Thuresson died of fentanyl toxicity, according to sheriff's officials.

"We extend our sympathies to the Thuresson family and those affected by his death," Jarjura said.
Thuresson, a convicted felon, had been in custody since Oct. 4, when he was booked on drug and firearms charges.
