Macy's to Close Mission Valley Store
The San Diego store is among 68 locations Macy's is closing across the country.

SAN DIEGO, CA – Macy's is closing its apparel store, the original anchor for the Mission Valley Center mall, the department store company announced Wednesday.
The San Diego store is one of 65 locations across the country Macy's plans to close this year, according to a company press release. Three additional stores closed last year. Macy's said it will reinvest in its e-commerce and give a smaller number of stores a better customer experience.
Opened in 1961, Mission Valley Apparel employs 140 associates at the 385,000-square-foot store. Associates at shuttered stores may have the option to transfer to nearby locations that remain open, and some full- and part-time associates will be offered severance packages, according to the release.
