Mall Carjack Suspect: Sketch Released & Reward Offered

A woman was robbed at knifepoint and her vehicle was stolen from a parking lot at Fashion Valley mall, San Diego police said.

SAN DIEGO, CA – Police are seeking leads on a carjacking suspect's identity, and a reward of up to $1,000 is offered for information leading to his arrest, after a 57-year-old woman reported being robbed at knifepoint Monday aftertnoon in the parking lot of Fashion Valley mall.

The female told San Diego police that at about 1:45 p.m. she was walking to her car in the shopping center's west parking lot, at 7007 Friars Road, when she was appraoched from behind by a male, who put a knife to her neck and demanded her car keys and wallet, the department said.

The woman handed over both, and the man, described as Hispanic, 30 to 35 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall with brown hair, drove off south on Fashion Valley Road in the victim's 2017 white, four-door Nissan Sentra.

The vehicle was recovered, however, police did not disclose details on where or when, but did today release a sketch of the suspect.

Anyone with information on the identity or location of the man is asked to call the SDPD’s Robbery Unit at (619) 531-2299 or the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477. Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward to anyone with information that leads to an arrest in the case.
