Man Shot After Getting Into Argument In San Diego

A man was shot after getting into an argument with a group of people in the Shelltown neighborhood, police said.

SAN DIEGO – A 29-year-old man was shot after getting into an argument with a group of people in the Shelltown neighborhood, police said Thursday.

It happened shortly before 9:10 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Eta and South 41st streets, San Diego police Officer Robert Heims said.

The 29-year-old man was walking westbound on Eta Street when he got into an argument with a group of people who were talking to more people in a car, Heims said.

During the argument, a man got out of the car and shot the victim four times, the officer said.

The gunman then got back into the car, described as a dark sedan, and the vehicle fled eastbound on Eta Street, Heims said.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries, which were not believed to be life-threatening, he said.

No detailed suspect descriptions were immediately available.

Gang detectives were investigating the shooting.
