September 17, 2022: The Miramar Young Marines had the honor of being invited to the Miramar National Cemetery by Honor Flight San Diego to take part in the ceremonious folding of 44 flags. The flags honor 44 members of the Navy Seawolves Helicopter Attack Squadron (Light) 3 (HA(L)-3), the most decorated Huey helicopter squadron of the Vietnam War.

The Miramar Young Marines proudly and stoically took part in the folding of the American flags while reflecting on the sacrifices of those they honor.

On September 30, 2022, Honor Flight San Diego will fly their first all-Vietnam Veteran flight to Washington, D.C. They will honor 85 Navy HA(L)-3 Seawolves members honoring their service and sacrifice during the war. The 44 flags that were folded during the event at the Miramar National Cemetery will be carried on the flight to Washington D.C. and displayed with the photographs of the 44 veterans who were killed in action. The flags will later be presented to members of their families in honor of their sacrifice.

The Miramar National Cemetery Support Foundation donated the flags after they flew in the Avenue of Flags; a unique and moving feature of the Miramar National Cemetery.
