Cutwater Transforms San Diego Tasting Room Into A 'House Of Spirits' For Halloween (patch.com) — San Diego food and drink fans can dive into Cutwater's new House of Spirits takeover, where the Miramar tasting room is decked out with Halloween-themed dishes, cocktails and spooky décor. Guests can book the Cutwater Crypt speakeasy or a special Halloween pairing tour, both running through Oct. 31, and enjoy San Diego-made spirits in an immersive, seasonal setting.
   

2. West Nile Virus Cases Rise In San Diego County; Mosquito Spraying Planned (patch.com) — San Diego County health officials are responding to a spike in locally acquired West Nile virus cases, including several in Coronado, by scheduling early-morning mosquito spraying over roughly 6,000 properties. Residents are urged to protect themselves from bites, eliminate standing water around their homes, and report problem areas to the county's Vector Control Program.
   

3. 18-Year-Old Arrested In South Bay Antisemitic Vandalism Cases (patch.com) — South Bay residents are being urged to share any information after an 18-year-old was arrested in connection with antisemitic graffiti targeting homes in Imperial Beach. San Diego County sheriff's detectives used surveillance video and extra patrols to identify the suspect, and the case is now being reviewed as a possible hate crime with the District Attorney's Hate Crimes Unit involved.

Youth e-bike safety becomes focus of Pacific Beach Town Council meeting (sandiegouniontribune.com) — After a 14-year-old Pacific Beach student died in an e-bike collision, local leaders, San Diego police, and county and city representatives devoted a town council meeting to youth e-bike safety. They discussed enforcement, parent education, and potential legal action against misleading e-bike sellers, while planning new safety courses in Pacific Beach neighborhoods.
   

5. 45-year old man killed by hit-and-run driver in San Diego's Egger Highlands, at least 11th bike death in San Diego County this year (bikinginla.com) — A 45-year-old man riding in the bike lane on Palm Avenue in San Diego's Egger Highlands neighborhood was killed Wednesday when a driver veered into the lane, hit him from behind, and fled. This marks at least the 11th bicyclist death in San Diego County this year; police are asking anyone with information to contact SDPD Traffic Division or Crime Stoppers.
