Sexually Violent Predator Recommended For Placement In Borrego Springs Home (patch.com) — San Diego County officials are weighing the conditional release of convicted sexually violent predator John Phillips to a specific home in Borrego Springs, with a Superior Court hearing set downtown on Sept. 24. Residents across the county, especially in Borrego Springs and San Diego, are invited to submit comments by early September to the SAFE Task Force and may also address the judge directly, depending on court rules.

Officers ended the ground chase before the Jeep crossed lanes on Imperial Avenue, and now investigators are asking anyone who saw the collision to contact San Diego police or Crime Stoppers.

San Diego Water Authority to generate $15M from Burbank Water Deal (nbcsandiego.com) — San Diego County Water Authority has approved a long-term deal letting Burbank buy up to 5,000 acre-feet of water annually, expected to bring $15 million in revenue in the first five years. Officials say the income will help offset past investments that strengthened San Diego County's water reliability through at least 2050, while showcasing new regional partnerships across Southern California.
   

5. San Diego prepares for strong El Niño season amid record heat wave (10news.com) — San Diego officials are urging residents to prepare now as a potentially powerful El Niño season builds on top of the current extreme heat gripping the county. City crews are clearing storm channels and drains, while emergency leaders warn about flooding, surf dangers, and the need for households to assess flood risk, safeguard documents, and stay cautious at local beaches amid thousands of recent lifeguard rescues.
