No criminal charges for San Diego police officer who fatally shot 16-year-old near Santa Fe Depot (sandiegouniontribune.com) — San Diego County's district attorney has decided not to file criminal charges against Officer Daniel Gold II for fatally shooting 16-year-old Konoa Wilson near the Santa Fe Depot, despite the city's earlier $30 million settlement with Wilson's parents. Prosecutors say they cannot prove Gold's belief that he faced a life-threatening situation was unreasonable beyond a reasonable doubt, while the family's attorney sharply criticizes the decision as a failure of the criminal justice system.
   

2. Record Number of San Diegans Attended `Parks After Dark' This Summer (10news.com) — San Diego families turned out in record numbers for this summer's Parks After Dark program, with nearly 35,000 attendees at 99 free evening events across five neighborhood recreation centers. Residents enjoyed movies, arts and crafts, games, music, sports clinics and more than 16,500 free hot meals for kids, while the San Diego Parks Foundation also handed out 500 school-supply backpacks.
   

3. Breaking: Sc/pmq Fire reported in San Diego County on Sep. 5 (sacbee.com) — A new wildfire named the Sc/pmq Fire was reported on federal land in San Diego County, burning for several hours with its cause and containment status still unknown. Managed by the U.S. Department of Defense, the blaze is being tracked by federal wildfire agencies, and residents should stay alert for updated information on its behavior and any potential advisories.
   

4. San Diego sheriff's K-9 recovering after being stabbed in the face by burglar (nbcsandiego.com) — A San Diego County sheriff's K-9 named Nike is recovering after being stabbed in the face while helping Escondido police arrest an alleged burglary suspect early Saturday. The 6-year-old Belgian Malinois was rushed to a San Marcos veterinary hospital with multiple lacerations and puncture wounds, while the suspect was booked into Vista Detention Facility on several charges.
   

5. Aztecs excel in all three phases in 53-20 victory over Portland State (eastvillagetimes.com) — San Diego State football thrilled local fans at Snapdragon Stadium by roaring back from an early deficit to beat Portland State 53–20, powered by big plays on offense, defense, and special teams. With multiple rushing touchdowns, blocked punts, and a 100‑yard kickoff return, the Aztecs showcased depth across the roster before turning their attention to next week's trip to UCLA.

    He was running around the entrance of the dog park on Point Loma/Nimitz yesterday (Thursday) around 5:30pm. Many neighbors came out to help get him… (Nextdoor W Point Loma Blvd)
