SAN DIEGO, CA — A sports car careened out of a Mira Mesa intersection Wednesday and struck an 18-year-old pedestrian, seriously injuring her, authorities reported.

The 27-year-old man behind the wheel of the 2017 Fiat Spider lost control of it while making a left turn from southbound Camino Ruiz onto eastbound Mira Mesa Boulevard just before noon, according to the San Diego Police Department.

The car fishtailed and jumped a curb, then hit the teenager and crashed into a bench at a Metropolitan Transit System bus stop, SDPD Officer Sarah Foster said.
