Pedestrian Struck By Hit-And-Run Vehicle In South Park

The 47-year-old pedestrian was hospitalized with serious injuries.

SAN DIEGO, CA — A 47-year-old pedestrian was hospitalized with serious injuries Friday when he was struck by a motorist who fled the scene in South Park, police said.

The man was searching through trash cans around 2 a.m. in the 2900 block of Juniper Street when a vehicle being driven eastbound on Juniper struck him, Officer David O'Brien of the San Diego Police Department said.

The driver fled the scene following the crash, the officer said. There was no description of the suspect vehicle or driver.

The pedestrian was taken by ambulance to a hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

SDPD Traffic Division responded and was investigating the hit-and-run.
