1. 2 San Diego County Children Sickened In E. Coli Outbreak Linked To Raw Milk Cheese (patch.com) — San Diego County health officials report that two local children under 5 are among those sickened in a multi-state E. coli outbreak tied to recalled Sierra Nevada Graziers raw milk cheeses. Residents are urged to discard the affected cheddar and jack products, sanitize any surfaces they touched, and seek medical care if they develop severe stomach symptoms, especially bloody diarrhea or dehydration.
   

2. Sexually Violent Predator Wanted After Removing GPS Monitor In San Diego (patch.com) — San Diego authorities are urgently searching for 69-year-old Merle Wakefield, a sexually violent predator who removed his GPS monitor and vanished from a Rancho Bernardo work site. The sheriff's department and San Diego police are asking residents not to approach him and to call 911 or local law enforcement with any sightings. The alert includes his physical description and notes he is wanted for violating conditional release terms.
   

3. San Diego nonprofit helps military families settle in with free food boxes (10news.com) — Military families newly stationed in San Diego are getting free food boxes from Blue Star Families, helping them manage high local costs while they settle in. Volunteers recently packed about 1,300 boxes at the USS Midway Museum, with distributions planned for Camp Pendleton, Miramar, Navy Region Southwest, and families of sailors on the USS Roosevelt and USS Lincoln.
   

4. City building $3M security fence around San Diego police headquarters (sandiegouniontribune.com) — San Diego police headquarters downtown is getting a new $3.1 million, 8–10 foot security fence that will change how the public and employees access the building. The grassy park space and main Broadway entrance will generally remain open, but gates can close when security needs arise, and some areas will become key-card-only during several months of construction.
   

5. Friends muscle up money for woman injured by Pacific Beach boardwalk driver (nbcsandiego.com) — Friends and gym members in Pacific Beach are rallying around Olivia, a 25-year-old Ocean Pacific Gym regular badly injured when a stolen Tesla drove onto the boardwalk earlier this month. Her gym community has launched an online fundraiser, already seeded with a $5,000 donation from the owner, to cover months of therapy and help her return to the active San Diego lifestyle she loves.
