Pedestrian Struck, Seriously Injured By Car Near Liberty Station
A 60-year-old man suffered severe head injuries when he was struck by a car near Liberty Station, police said.
SAN DIEGO — A 60-year-old man suffered severe head injuries when he was struck by a car near Liberty Station, police said Wednesday.
The crash happened shortly before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Rosecrans Street and Laning Road, San Diego police Officer John Buttle said.
A 55-year-old man behind the wheel of a 2019 Ford Fusion was on Laning Road in the right turn lane to Rosecrans Street as the 60-year-old man attempted to cross Rosecrans Street eastbound in the crosswalk, Buttle said.

The driver made a right turn onto Rosecrans Street and struck the pedestrian as he was walking in the crosswalk, Buttle said, adding that the driver had a green turn light and the pedestrian had a cross signal.
The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening head trauma, the officer said. An update on his condition was not immediately available.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officers, Buttle said. Intoxication was not believed to have been a factor in the crash.
