SAN DIEGO, CA — The San Diego County Department of Animal Services will waive pet adoption fees in August as part of "Clear the Shelters," a month-long national effort to find homes for animals in shelters.
Nationally, the Clear the Shelters campaign has helped more than 860,000 pets find new homes since 2015. Last year's campaign set a new single-year record with more than 161,000 adoptions, while also raising more than $540,000.
The county's Department of Animal Services has participated in the campaign since 2016. Since then, 644 pets have found new homes during the campaign, including 302 last year.
