SAN DIEGO, CA — Authorities on Monday released the name of a pilot who was killed last week when the small plane he was flying crashed in San Diego.
Michael Salour, 74, of Carlsbad was the pilot of the single-engine Cessna 210 Centurion that crashed during a storm Wednesday in the La Jolla community, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office. He was the sole occupant of the plane.
The plane originated from the San Francisco Bay Area, the Medical Examiner's Office said. Salour stopped at the French Valley Airport in Murrieta and was headed to McClellan–Palomar Airport in Carlsbad when he was diverted to Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport in San Diego due to inclement weather. He made one aborted attempt to land and last reported that he was low on fuel.
