Puppies Rescued From Ravine In San Diego

The 3-month-old Terrier-mix puppies were stuck in a water well on Murphy Canyon Road, according to the San Diego Humane Society​.

SAN DIEGO, CA — Two puppies are safe after being rescued from a ravine in San Diego, the San Diego Humane Society announced.

A community member contacted the nonprofits's Humane Law Enforcement team shortly before 12:15 p.m. Friday after finding two small dogs stuck in a water well on Murphy Canyon Road, according to the San Diego Humane Society.

Six members from the organization's Emergency Response Team's technical unit rappelled down the ravine to retrieve the puppies. The pups were taken to the Humane Society's San Diego campus, where they were evaluated.

"At this point, the 3-month-old Terrier-mix puppies appear healthy," Humane Society spokesperson Nina Thompson said. "They were not microchipped and will be placed on stray hold for at least 72 hours."
