SAN DIEGO, CA —All COASTER and Amtrak Pacific Surfliner services between Oceanside and downtown San Diego will be suspended this weekend because of rail work, rail officials have announced.

As a result of an Absolute Work Window (AWW), no passenger trains or freight trains will operate along the San Diego segment of the Los Angeles-San Diego-San Luis Obispo (LOSSAN) coastal rail corridor. The shutdown will last from early Saturday morning through early Monday morning.

"AWWs are select weekends that provide crews safe access to work uninterrupted directly along the rail line while all rail services are halted to meet significant construction milestones," rail officials said in a statement.

The track work is similar to that which took place earlier this month. Amtrak has posted a list of weekend train routes and schedules for the Pacific Surfliner.

More details about this shutdown and future shutdowns is available from the North County Rail District.
