Registration Deadline Nears For San Diego County Property Tax Auction

SAN DIEGO, CA — Prospective buyers have until Thursday to register for San Diego County's annual online property tax auction.
The auction, held March 13-18, features 686 properties for sale and could generate more than $18 million in revenue, according to the San Diego County Treasurer-Tax Collector's Office.
"This year we have hundreds of properties that might be the perfect opportunity for a hopeful buyer," San Diego County Treasurer Larry Cohen said. "Our online system makes it simple to research and bid on a variety of properties across San Diego County."

The properties listed this year include 70 improved properties, 66 unimproved properties and 550 timeshares.
If all properties are sold at the minimum bid, the county could collect about $18.2 million in tax revenue, Cohen said.

Bidders must register online by Thursday, submit a refundable $1,000 deposit and pay a non-refundable $35 processing fee. Some parcels may require a larger deposit. All sales are final.
Property owners can avoid the sale by paying all delinquent taxes and fees by 5 p.m. March 12.
