Salvation Army Launches Partnership With Live Well San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA – The Salvation Army will announce plans Wednesday to partner with Live Well San Diego, the county's program to improve and maintain public health, safety and wellbeing.

Live Well San Diego includes dozens of partner organizations around the county. The county began the 10-year program in 2010 in an effort to curb poor nutrition and tobacco use and encourage active and healthy lifestyles.

The program is currently composed of three components: Building Better Health, Living Safely and Thriving.

"We really do want to 'do the most good' for our community and we're always better together," said Paul Armstrong, the social service director for the Salvation Army. "So we wanted to join the county and the other partners in San Diego to make our community stronger and better."

Salvation Army San Diego will hold a news conference at the Ray and Joan Kroc Center at 11 a.m. to announce the partnership. Salvation Army officials are expected to attend, according to the organization.
