San Diego CBP Officers Seize Over $2.4M​ In Drugs, Weapon, Cash

Authorities found a total of 367 packages in vehicles that tested positive for cocaine, fentanyl and meth, according to CBP.

SAN DIEGO, CA — U.S. Customs and Border Protection's San Diego Field Office seized more than $2.4 million in drugs, a weapon and money last weekend, the agency announced Thursday.

Authorities found a total of 367 packages in vehicles that tested positive for cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine, according to CBP. Officers discovered drugs from various locations in vehicles, including the air intake box, doors, firewall, floorboards, gas tanks, quarter panels, roof and trunk. The drugs weighed 472 pounds and were valued at more than $2.4 million.

Adding to the weekend drug busts, CBP officers at the San Ysidro Port of Entry found a 9mm
handgun, one 33-round extended magazine, 30 9mm rounds of ammunition, and marijuana in a
traveler's purse, according to CBP.

Officers at the San Ysidro Port of Entry also discovered $20,155 in unreported currency while inspecting a vehicle traveling into Mexico.

"Officers were faced with adverse weather conditions over the weekend," said Sidney Aki, CBP director of field operations in San Diego. "Despite the challenges, our officers remained steadfast, and I commend them for their exceptional performance and applaud their continued efforts to protect and serve our communities."
