Chaney, who serves in the U.S. Coast Guard, learned about the opportunity to appear on "The Price Is Right" when he received an email on base seeking military members interested in attending the show. It was his first time appearing on a game show.
"'The Price Is Right' is iconic," said Chaney, who has lived in San Diego for two years. "One of my favorite shows growing up, and a frequent watch in the office when time is available."
Chaney first got on stage by placing the winning big on a collection of drinkware and coolers.
"You've gotta be kidding me," he said when he was called onto the stage. "I told ya I'd make it on. I made it!"
He then played a game of Plinko and won $20,000.
Chaney told Patch he had a "great time" on the show. He enjoyed the "energy" and "classic feel."
"My favorite part was the audience interaction," he said.
