SDSU Suspends 14 Fraternities Following Student's Hospitalization
All fraternity activities at San Diego State University were suspended one day after a student was hospitalized after attending a party.

SAN DIEGO, CA — All Interfraternity Council activities at San Diego State University were suspended Friday one day after the hospitalization of a student who attended a reported fraternity gathering.
Campus police were called to Tenocha Hall in the 6100 block of Montezuma Road Thursday morning regarding a student in need of medical attention, according to the San Diego State University Police Department.
The student was taken to a hospital, but details about the student or the incident were not disclosed.

"Given the severity of this incident, and as the safety and wellbeing of students is a primary concern of the university, SDSU President Adela de la Torre has suspended the Interfraternity Council and all chapter organizations under the council," according to a statement from the school.
Neither the council or its organizations would be recognized during the suspension and all activities were canceled, the statement said.

The suspension impacts more than 1,400 members of 14 council fraternities, but does not affect the National Pan-Hellenic Council, the College Panhellenic Association or the United Sorority and Fraternity Council, or the chapters affiliated with those organizations.
Counseling services were offered to "assist students on any emotional or psychological matters," the school said.
The IFC consists of Alpha Epsilon Pi, Delta Sigma Phi, Delta Epsilon, Kappa Alpha Order, Kappa Sigma, Phi Delta Theta, Phi Gamma Delta, Phi Kappa Psi, Pi Kappa Alpha, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Sigma Chi, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Theta Chi and Zeta Beta Tau, according to the school's website.
