CAMPO, CA — Firefighters are conducting a brush-clearing controlled burn Tuesday in the Campo area of San Diego County.

A controlled burn, also known as a prescribed fire, aims to reduce vegetation and risk from wildfire.

Smoke from the blaze, which is just north of the U.S.-Mexico border, will be visible throughout the day in southern San Diego County, according to Cal Fire.
