Superheroes To Surprise Patients At Rady Children's Hospital

SAN DIEGO, CA – Superheroes are scheduled to take time out from battling villains Tuesday to entertain young patients at Rady Children's Hospital by washing their windows.

The window-washers from A-Plus Window Cleaning of El Cajon will wear Superman, Spiderman, Mr. Incredible, Batman, Green Lantern, Captain America, Thor, The Hulk and The Flash costumes when cleaning the exterior of the hospital's Acute Care Pavilion.

Patients will be allowed to wave and interact with the superheroes and take pictures with them, the hospital said.

While little ghosts and goblins fill the streets of residential neighborhoods around San Diego County in their quest for sweet bounty, a few special events are also scheduled.

At 5 p.m., the National City Firefighters Association will host its 10th annual Tower of Terror, along with city officials and volunteers from Sweetwater High School. The event at Station 34, 343 E. 16th St., will feature costume contests, family activities, and lots of candy.

The county of San Diego will hold Halloween festivities at community centers in Spring Valley and Fallbrook with treats, costume contests and other activities. The festivities are scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Spring Valley Community Center, 8735 Jamacha Blvd.; and 6 p.m. at the Fallbrook Community Center, 341 Heald Ave.

At 7:30 p.m., the classic cult flick "Night of the Living Dead" will be screened at the Balboa Theatre, 868 Fourth Ave. The 1968 black-and-white horror film follows a group of people who seek refuge in a farmhouse from flesh- eating zombies.
