Teen Dies From Injuries Suffered In South Bay Car Crash
When officers arrived at the scene, the juvenile driver had already pulled the seriously injured passenger out of the truck, police said.
CHULA VISTA, CA — A teenager who was seriously injured in a car crash last week in San Diego's South Bay has died, authorities said.
The 16-year-old boy died Friday at the hospital, said Sgt. Anthony Molina of the Chula Vista Police Department.
The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. May 29 near the intersection of Hunte Parkway and Exploration Falls Drive in Chula Vista. A juvenile driver and a 16-year-old boy were traveling westbound in a Ford pickup truck when the vehicle went off the roadway and hit a tree and a fire hydrant in the 1800 block of Hunte Parkway.

When officers arrived at the scene, the driver had already pulled the passenger out of the truck. The boy, who was unconscious, was taken to the hospital, where he later died, Molina said.
"He and the driver were cousins," Molina said. "Due to their ages, their names are being withheld at this time. The juvenile driver and family are cooperating with law enforcement and the investigation is still ongoing."
