Tips Sought: Armed Man Robs San Diego Gas Station

The robber pointed a black semi-automatic handgun at the clerk and demanded money, according to San Diego County Crime Stoppers​.​

SAN DIEGO, CA — Authorities sought the public's help Tuesday in identifying an armed man who robbed a gas station in San Diego.

The robbery happened at 4:08 a.m. March 19 at a Chevron gas station at 7737 Balboa Ave. in the Kearny Mesa area of San Diego, according to San Diego County Crime Stoppers. The robber pointed a black semi-automatic handgun at the clerk and demanded money.

After the clerk gave the thief an undisclosed amount of money, he left the store and ran off to the southeast toward a nearby parking lot.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic man between 25 to 30 years old. He had a thin build and was roughly 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, a black "SD" hat, black gloves with white writing along the knuckles, and black-and-white athletic shoes.

Anyone with information about the case was asked to call the San Diego Police Department's Robbery Division at 619-531-2268 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477 or sdcrimestoppers.org. Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in this case.
