Trump To Visit San Diego, Inspect Border Wall Prototypes

The trip will be Trump's first visit to California as president.

SAN DIEGO, CA – President Donald Trump is reportedly planning to visit San Diego County mid-March to see prototypes for the proposed U.S.-Mexico border wall. The trip will be Trump's first visit to California as president.

Administration officials told The Washington Post that the trip will coincide with a Republican National Committee fundraiser in Los Angeles.

Eight prototype designs for a new border wall were completed in October in Otay Mesa near the border.

Four of the prototypes are made of concrete, and the other four are made of alternate materials, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The barriers, which are designed to deter illegal border crossings, are between 18 to 30 feet high.
