Additionally, Amazon said Tuesday it plans to hire 250,000 people in full-time, part-time and seasonal positions across hundreds of cities and towns nationwide. The company is looking to fill at least 30,000 positions in California.
"The holiday season is always a special time at Amazon and we're excited to hire 250,000 additional people this year to help serve customers across the country," John Felton, Amazon's senior vice president of worldwide operations, said in a statement.

"Whether someone is looking for a short-term way to make extra money, or is hoping to take their first step toward a fulfilling and rewarding career at Amazon, there's a role available for them," Felton said. "A fulfillment or transportation employee who starts with us today will see a 13% increase in pay over the next three years — likely more, including our annual wage investments — and that's on top of offerings like prepaid college tuition with Career Choice and health care benefits from day one."
Meanwhile, the U.S. Postal Service said it plans to hire 10,000 seasonal employees this year, after converting more than 150,000 pre-career workers into career positions over the last three years.
The USPS seeks to hire hundreds of Californians over the next several weeks. At least 500 postal workers are needed in Los Angeles, and 450 workers are needed in Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego counties.
"There's never been a better time to join the Postal Service," said Carol Capone, human resources manager for USPS San Diego. "We are a vital lifeline between our local communities and the outside world."
