MINNEAPOLIS — Target announced that it plans to hire nearly 100,000 season workers to help with the demands of the busy holiday season.

The Minneapolis-based retail giant is hiring employees to assist customers in stores, provide same-day fulfillment services, sort and ship orders, and more.

Since Wednesday, candidates interested in season work can apply at TargetSeasonalJobs.com.

As Americans continue to navigate high inflation, Target hopes to attract customers with daily discounts from Oct. 1 through Dec. 24, including gifts under $25 and seasonal food and beverage items for $2.

Target is also investing in its drive-up services, including offering customers freshly made Starbucks items brought directly to their car, along with the rest of their Target order.

Financial analysts expect a slower holiday shopping season than in years past.

Deloitte expects U.S. retail sales to rise by 4.6 percent between November and January, which is down compared to 2022 when sales jumped by 7.6 percent during that time period, Reuters reported.

Consumers are expected to behave more frugally as household savings shrink and worries over the economy grow.
