An outside consultant’s assessment is guiding a phased implementation workplan, with Phase I already underway and a detailed three‑year roadmap expected back before the City Council in June.
   

2. TV actor gets 32 years to life for attack on girlfriend (kesq.com) — A high-profile sentencing at the San Fernando Courthouse has put actor Nick Pasqual behind bars for 32 years to life for a brutal 2024 domestic violence attack. Jurors convicted him of attempted murder and other felonies after his ex-girlfriend, a Hollywood makeup artist, survived more than 20 stab wounds and testified about the assault.
   

3. A Nearly 70-Year-Old California Based Mattress Company Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy (whatnow.com) — A long-running Southern California mattress retailer, Ortho Mattress Inc., has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court’s San Fernando division, seeking to restructure while continuing operations. With liabilities far exceeding assets, the company plans to use a streamlined Subchapter V process as it works out payments to unsecured creditors and determines its future across more than 60 regional stores.
   

4. Family Identifies Man Shot, Killed At Santa Clarita Sports Complex (hometownstation.com) — A man with close ties to San Fernando’s faith community has been identified as the victim of a deadly shooting outside the Santa Clarita Sports Complex. Relatives say Joshua Trujillo, son of a San Fernando pastor, leaves four children behind, and a GoFundMe has been launched to help cover his burial and support his family while detectives investigate.
