SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A popular Japanese punk band was forced to cancel its Memorial Day show in San Francisco on Monday after all three band members suffered "traumatic injuries" during a crash in New Mexico earlier this month.
Peelander-Z was set to perform at the Bottom of the Hill event, but had to pull out after a semi-truck rear-ended them while touring in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The crash left each band member with injuries ranging from fractures to the spine, head trauma, and fractures, according to a GoFundMe started in support of the group.
Photos posted by the band show a wrecked passenger van with a semi-truck crashed behind it.
So far, fans have rallied around the band, raising $163,602 out of a $170,000 goal set on the band's GoFundMe.
"The road to recovery is going to be a long and challenging one, but if anyone can do it, it's Peelander Z!" the fundraiser reads. "Your support means so much, and will provide initial support as we navigate this journey."
