The Bay Area will be hit with a double whammy this weekend when sweltering triple-digit temperatures combine with coastal flooding, the National Weather Service warned.
A Heat Advisory will be in effect for much of the inland areas while a a Flood Advisory is in effect along the coast.
The Heat Advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. Saturday through 10 p.m. Sunday for several inland areas, including:
Temperatures in all areas are expected to reach into the upper 90s and triple digits in all areas, with some areas reaching as high as 105 degrees. Nighttime lows are expected to range from the mid-60s to the low 80s, especially in higher elevations.
The coast remains mild, with temperatures topping out around 70 degrees. However, a Coastal Flood Advisory is also in effect along the San Francisco, San Pablo, and Monterey bays, with up to 1.7 feet of inundation expected in low-lying areas near high-tide times. Visitors are reminded to allow extra time for travel and avoid driving around barricades or through water.
Inland temperatures are expected to dorp around 15-20 degrees starting Monday, and remain in the upper 80s and low 90s for the rest of the week.
The National Weather Service is reminding residents to stay hydrated, seek cool shelter (see here to find local public cooling centers), avoid sun exposure, wear sunscreen, dress comfortably, learn the signs of heat stroke, and never leave children or pet unattended in cars.
