The San José Museum of Art (SJMA) and the City of San Jose Climate Art Program (SJ Climate Art) are pleased to hold its second symposium dedicated to the intersection of art and climate, themed Reimagining Our Waterways.
Responding to the effects of drought, climate change, pollution, and the diversion of waterways, SJMA and SJ Climate Art has invited artists from the Bay Area, wider US, and abroad to present on projects they have developed which re-establish connections between humans and the water sources they rely on.
Artist-led, yet multidisciplinary in nature, presenters will discuss how they have collaborated with scientists, park rangers, activists, curators, historians, and more to realize their projects. These case studies reflect how crucial artistic tools and thinking are to reimagining and implementing alternatives to official systems. The second day of the symposium will be offsite, engaging directly with nearby waterway Coyote Creek.
Registration is $20 ($15 for SJMA members).
