New beds for foster youth usher in-county psychiatric care (newtimesslo.com) — San Luis Obispo County is reopening its former crisis stabilization unit on Johnson Avenue as a four‑bed, short‑term psychiatric treatment program so foster youth can get intensive care without leaving the county. Funded by a state grant and county contract with Crestwood Behavioral Health, the 24/7 facility will serve children 12 to 17 for roughly 10 to 30 days, aiming to reduce hospitalizations and out‑of‑county placements. 
2. San Luis Obispo police arrest alleged High Street Deli vandal (calcoastnews.com) — San Luis Obispo police arrested a man suspected of causing thousands of dollars in marker graffiti damage at High Street Deli and Lincoln Deli earlier this week. Officers used surveillance footage to identify the suspect, described as a local transient, and booked him on a felony vandalism charge after finding him near downtown. Both sandwich shops reported extensive patio and sign damage.
3. Hundreds without power in SLO County outage. When will it be back on? (sanluisobispo.com) — Hundreds of PG&E customers in northern San Luis Obispo County lost power Thursday evening, with no firm restoration time yet. About 683 customers off Morro Road in Atascadero are affected while PG&E crews inspect the system and make repairs. An online outage map is tracking real-time conditions across SLO County and California.
4. Prescribed burn planned near Santa Margarita Friday (pasoroblesdailynews.com) — Fire crews are conducting a prescribed burn today on 17 acres of private land southeast of Santa Margarita, coordinated by Cal Fire San Luis Obispo and county air quality and fire‑safe agencies. Expect visible smoke near Seven Oaks Way between Las Pilitas and Parkhill roads as crews carefully reduce hazardous vegetation to lower wildfire risk and improve ecosystem health; residents should only call 911 for unrelated emergencies.
5. San Luis Obispo police crack down on illegal e-bikes as 'moto-bikes' hit Central Coast streets (ksby.com) — San Luis Obispo police motorcycle officers are ramping up enforcement against high-powered “moto-bikes” that look like e-bikes but legally count as motorcycles under California law. Local traffic officers explain how to tell legal e-bikes from illegal machines, what licenses and safety gear are required, and why inexperienced younger riders are driving a spike in serious crashes.
