San Luis Obispo City Council approves purchase of Mello family home (ksby.com) — San Luis Obispo is moving to buy the longtime Mello family home on Broad Street for about $1.3 million, using FEMA reimbursement and city funds. Officials say the Mission District property, next to the History Center, is slated to become a community-serving space that supports the downtown Cultural Arts District while honoring Lucille “Nana” Mello’s legacy.
   

3. California Senate passes bill to restore Diablo Canyon community funding (ksby.com) — San Luis Obispo County services and local schools could see crucial funding restored as a Diablo Canyon tax bill advances in the State Legislature. Senate Bill 931, co-authored by local lawmakers, aims to revive community impact money that once supported public safety, fire protection, and school programs now facing cuts.
   

4. Lukas Nelson and Molly Tuttle Add West Coast Dates (gratefulweb.com) — Lukas Nelson and Molly Tuttle are bringing their co-headlining tour to San Luis Obispo’s Fremont Theater on October 5, giving local fans a chance to see full sets from both acclaimed Americana artists. Tickets go on presale May 20 and general sale May 22, with additional new California dates in Fresno, Pioneertown, and Los Angeles.
   

5. Jack Gunter and Mia Salas Earn Top Prizes at The 2026 Rita Moreno Awards (broadwayworld.com) — San Luis Obispo High School’s production of “Urinetown” just captured the top Overall Production prize at the 2026 Rita Moreno Awards, spotlighting local student talent on a big regional stage. SLO student Scarlett Buatte was also honored as Supporting Performer, while winners from other schools now advance to New York’s prestigious Jimmy Awards.
