8 Injured In Crash Near Fairfax

The collision closed Sir Francis Drake Boulevard for about two hours, according to the CHP.

FAIRFAX, CA – Eight people were injured in a two-vehicle collision northwest of Fairfax in Marin County this morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The CHP was informed around 6 a.m. of the collision involving a sedan and a pickup truck on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard east of San Geronimo Valley Road, CHP Officer Andrew Barclay said.

The injured people suffered moderate to major injuries and were taken to Marin General Hospital and Kaiser Permanente San Rafael Medical Center in Terra Linda, Barclay said.

Investigators believe the driver of the sedan, a 21-year-ld woman from Point Reyes, was driving east on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and crossed into the westbound lane where she struck the pickup truck driven by a
21-year-old resident of San Rafael, Barclay said.

There were five occupants in the sedan and three in the pickup truck. The collision closed Sir Francis Drake Boulevard for about two hours, Barclay said.
